A National level Marketing Conference was organized by Department of Management Studies, National Institute of Technology, Trichy under the able guidance of Dr. G. Muruganantham, assistant professor at DoMS. The first ever marketing conference conducted in DoMS, received an overwhelming response from participants all over the country. There were in total 160 papers sent by the applicants, out of which 110 were selected and were presented.
In the one day conference along with 110 paper presenters, 6 key speakers from various domains of marketing delivered their talks. Twelve parallel sessions were conducted which were divided on the basis of their topics. There were speakers speaking on 30 different spheres of marketing, major topics being online marketing, green marketing, advertising, consumer behavior and rural marketing. There were participants from corporate academia, research scholars and MBA students from various institutes of India.
The key note speaker for the day was Mr. Xavier Vijay, Principal Consultant RK Swamy BBDO Pvt. Ltd, Chennai. He introduced the advertising industry to all the participants and gave them an overall picture about media planning. The first session of paper presentation began after his talk.
After the post lunch session of presentations, Ms. Ramya Jayaraj, Project management Specialist, NKG Infrastructure Ltd. Ahmedabad addressed the gathering on Green marketing and its nuances. She introduced few terms like Ecopreneurs and corporate environmental responsibility to the audience. After that Dr. B. Vinod Balakrishnan, Associate Professor Humanities Department, NIT Trichy talked about the values which a marketer can put in the product.
The event was not only a learning endeavor for the students of DoMS but was also a practical experience to manage an event successfully. Students and the participants also enjoyed the cultural program after the session.
